WILL THE REAL JEANNIE MORGAN PLEASE STAND UP?

WILL THE REAL JEANNIE MORGAN
PLEASE STAND UP?

THE 'REAL' JEANNIE

Because I'm an artist as well as an author, I love sharing my original artworks of the real Jeannie (you might have noticed!)  - the Jeannie Morgan I've imagined over the years, from her birth in 1865 to the final chapter.

The above image (the sepia toned one) was done many years ago, possibly in my early days as a parent. I came across a black and white photograph of a Navajo Indian and loved it. I've lost the original magazine photo that inspired me, but found another online. I could see why it inspired me to create a drawing of Jeannie. The pride in a handsome Indian face. My drawing was done in raw sienna coloured pencil, and I've doctored and updated it using Canva. Very pleased with the result. I found out that the original image was photographed in 1926 by a British photographer known as E.O.Hoppe. I've never heard of him but I found the image on Ebay under this title: 1926 Vintage ARIZONA ~ NAVAJO Native American Indian Portrait Photo Art By HOPPE. Looked up Hoppe and there he was. I can't share the image online otherwise I might be infringing copyright. Husband reminded me of that. (Very useful man!).

My other images were done when I was a teenager and after that, when I first began to dream up my own western story and western woman.

You may know, if you're following my journey as an author, that I collaborated with my designer on the cover illustrations for Books 1 and 2. They've both originated from drawings I'd created all those years ago. The Book 1 image (water coloured full figure) came from an illustration I'd created in those days of early parenthood, using a black and white sixties western film still. The pencil portrait came from a black and white male model in a magazine. I loved the pose, clothing and model himself.

MY FOLLOWERS/READERS WILL

My Book 2 cover was inspired by a drawing I did while still at school, in the common room between exams - I remember doing it! I took the drawing from a black and white western film still from the sixties.

THE RESULT

I stopped creating images some time ago, and I actually missed doing that, and the story when I stopped writing to concentrate on marketing - I missed Jeannie and her story! I know when I was creating these images I was extremely embarrassed, both by her and the storyline. It's taken a long time, and a lot of reassurances, that both she and her story are nothing to be embarrassed about. Get over it for goodness sake! 😄

Just to finish off, as many of you may have learned, I've suffered from depression since the births of my kids, which has made creating Jeannie and her story an uphill struggle. This subject is a blog post all of its own, but I will tell you that, since I discovered the Flow - lovely girl! - Neuroscience Headset, I believe that it's a game changer. Every weekend my brain is zapped by a gentle electrical charge. Sounds very Frankenstein monster-ish. The link will tell you all about it.

'Till next time ...

ALIAS JEANNIE DELANEY - AN EPIC WESTERN TRILOGY

Dynamic pants-wearing cowgirl Jeannie Morgan was born in New Orleans and grows up in Wyoming. She's tomboy beautiful and notorious as the fastest gun west of the Mississippi - her snake strike speed and aim are legendary. To make matters even more intriguing her extraordinary sexuality - a shocking revelation - is as fluid as a miner's whiskey. Men and women alike enjoy the magnificence of her love making.

Will all this, together with her powerful persona & her tomboy beauty, ultimately be the death of her?
