Almost a year ago I featured Book 1 - Go West, Girl! -  of author Kit Mackenzie's Alias Jeannie Delaney series.

Now, the next book in the series, Alias Jeannie Delaney - Book 2 - The Outlaw's Return, is to be released on August 3rd, and is available for pre-order on

The story centers on Cowgirl Jeannie Morgan who grew up in Coyote Creek, Wyoming, where she became persecuted for her lethal gun and a sexuality that swings both ways.

Tomboy beautiful and tough as the nails in a miner's boots, she is on the run with a bunch of boys who would die for her.

Her snake strike gun, soul-slicing gaze and dangerous magnetism leaves a trail of intense emotions, killings and would-be death threats in her wake. Heading south, she finds herself becoming a legend.

She's in deep trouble, but her home town demands her return and they pin a badge on her. It's her job to kill or be killed. If she survives, will it be happily ever after or will her dynamism, snake-strike gun and sexuality finish her off?

Author Kit Mackenzie (also known as Artist, Writer, and Mental Health Advocate, Jo B Creative, to long time readers of this blog, writes for her blog, Jo.B.Creative) lives in beautiful Hampshire, in the UK, with her soulmate hubby and their lovable cat Lulu.

Kit has been fascinated by the wild west since her teens - which she considers strange, due to her own bucolic English environment. Writing a novel was among the zillion things Kit wanted to accomplish.

That became reality when she committed to writing Alias Jeannie Delaney, the life story of a female frontier hero who's the fastest gun in the west - a cowgirl, outlaw leader, jailbird, deputy sheriff, and ultimately a powerful rancher and mayor and posse member. 

Even after finishing this mammoth three-book epic western, Kit feels she still has more stories to write about Jeannie, and I hope she does.

Howdy Folks, 

Book 2 of my epic western trilogy Alias Jeannie Delaney will be launched soon. 

Readers on Kindle Unlimited - a cheap and easy way to read - steam through Book 1 like a railroad train. Once picked up, hard to put down for some readers apparently! It's a traditional western with a twist and I've been told that it's pretty unique for its genre - well-researched with a sense of place and an enjoyable read (thank you to those who said that!). 

There's quite a bit of humour in it, besides what's expected from a gripping, no holds barred western, except that my hero is cowgirl Jeannie Morgan, a hard fightin' n' shootin',  pants-wearin' cowgirl. When not sweating it out on her Pa's ranch in Wyoming among his cowboys in her youth, she regularly transforms into a charismatic, funny, tomboy beautiful, cheroot chompin' young woman in sstylish and sexy male clothing. Her magnetism turns heads and her luminous gaze freezes folk to the spot. 

Book 1 - Go West, Girl!, introduces Jeannie, who becomes the fastest gun in the west and a great lover to both men and women. The series is a sweeping tale of adventure and self-discovery on the wild frontier.

She must navigate the challenges of her gender, her sexuality, and her desires in intimate scenes that don't necessarily fade to black. She encounters self-important businessmen, rugged outlaws, saloon girls and loyal companions who help shape her into the woman she's meant to be. She faces heart-pumping showdowns and tender moments, confronting her demons and learning to trust herself and those around her. 

This is an offbeat series which will appeal to readers who enjoy something different. Book 1 is available on Amazon and Book 2 will be launched in early August.

PROGRESS

I'm literally waiting with bated breath to hear from my cover designer and see what he's come up with for Alias Jeannie Delaney - Book 2 - (title to be revealed). Eek. We shall see. 

For those of you who have only just joined me and are yet to be introduced to my epic western trilogy, the saga follows the life of a devastating and charismatic pants-wearing cowgirl who's the fastest gun in the west and a great lover to both men and women. This is her journey to find her true self on the wild frontier. 

I've been working on promotion ideas using AI (artificial intelligence) and some of the ideas are really interesting. I'm an artist, I worked in graphic design and I'm a writer (!) so I've got a good idea on how to promote myself, sometimes with suggestions from PA 

hubby. I have a lot of promoters approach me, but I'm capable of creating promotional material myself and sharing online. 

So, while I wait for the arrival of my book 2 cover, there's nothing to stop me from thinking about Book 3. Hubby has been reading through it, then we'll read through it together, send that to my editor, then I'll consider the cover for that, and so on. 

I'm still struggling with my author website and its layout. I think it might be too complex because I have my Kitty Le Roy website attached.

BOATING

A short while ago we had a few days on Dotterel, our narrow boat moored in Warwickshire. I needed a respite from trilogies (just the one!), although I confess I wrote the back matter for Book 2. (For the benefit of those who've just joined me, I published Book 1 of my epic western trilogy Alias Jeannie Delaney last summer and It's doing well. The story charts the life of a devastating and charismatic pants wearing cowgirl who's the fastest gun in the west and a great lover to both men and women). 

Meanwhile hubby is preparing for the Birmingham Canal Challenge in May, hence our time on the boat. He had always wanted to take part in the challenge, which consists of narrow boats cruising the interesting and the lesser used navigations within and outside Birmingham. It's also a means of keeping the canal system open and used. We are both watery folk. I was brought up opposite the river Thames, and I swum the river  as a kid and I've rowed since I was a teenager. Hubby loved books about canal cruising and took narrowboat trips with family and friends and adores it. We now paddle a traditional Canadian canoe and a rubber one. After I recovered from depression, pre pandemic, I told him to do the challenge. He'd looked after me long enough, time to go! So, we've been cleaning Dotterel, our boat, and son Tom and I will be joining hubby and crew for the challenge itself.

HISTORY

Meanwhile I've been researching facts about the Suffolk marshes. The story behind that: My dad's best friend, an army mate met during the war, owned a 17th century farmhouse known as Dingle on the edge of the marshlands in Suffolk (it is listed - Dingle Farm, which his grandfather bought after WW1.

Nearly every year when I and my brothers were young, my dad's friend rented the house to us for a week during the summer. I adored that house. Absolutely loved it! I'm only sorry we didn't own it ourselves. I'll be sharing a post about that in due course. I've got numerous photos of Dingle, including one of me as a little kid sitting on that doorstep with our friend's daughter. I've also been researching the history of Suffolk, and in so doing, came across two female pirates! Lady Mary killigrew and Margery Lambert. Of course, that sent me off on another tangent, so that's another blog post to come!

I've sent off the back matter for Book 2 and final detail thoughts for the front cover illustration. I'm up to date now. The only real issue I have is my author website. It's great for layout arrangements initially, which I have done on my laptop screen, but when reviewed on phone layouts, which is what most folk look at, the layout is all over the show, and elements disappear. I then find them somewhere at the bottom of my design. So I began designing the layout based on phone usage and tried to find a compromise for both that and laptop screens, which seemed a good idea. That didn't really work either (all over the show again). Finally, in attempting to add a link to his blog - Jo B Creative - although I Googled how to do it, failed miserably. I still can't do it. Hubby told me I needed a computer geek - him. So I can have another crack at it with tech geek on hand. So hold onto your hats, folks - Book 2 will be available come the summer, a year after Book 1, which seems reasonable. 

OTHER STUFF

General creativity and artwork is therapeutic for the old brainbox. I've been videoing artistic endeavours and uploading them to my YouTube shorts channel. Rather satisfying. Only mumble is that previously I was able to add music to the clips, but a short while ago I was getting 'upload failed' when uploading through YouTube itself. When I upload directly from Google Photos, I can't find how to add music. Technology, eh? Great when it works etcetera...

On that note I'll bid you farewell, for now...
